Inge De Lathauwer, familiarly called ibu Inge, is the Founder of the Sumba Hospitality Foundation in Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara, which seeks to help underprivileged children in the area improve their livelihoods through education. The foundation attempts to improve locals’ welfare by giving them vocational training with an emphasis on ethical tourism, which includes building a sustainable model for responsible tourism development, whilst preserving the cultural history of the Sumbanese people. The foundation also pays attention to the ecological aspect by also teaching locals to apply sustainable permaculture techniques and create awareness on environmentally friendly tourism. Her decision to set up the school came by the poignant emotion she had upon coming to Sumba for the first time in 2013, to see locals living in poverty despite being surrounded by a breathtakingly beautiful panorama.

Yayasan ini mencoba memperbaiki kesejahteraan orang-orang lokal melalui pelatihan keterampilan kerja yang menitikberatkan pada pariwisata yang etis, yang mencakup pengembangan pariwisata berkelanjutan sembari melestarikan sejarah kebudayaan orang-orang Sumba. Yayasan ini juga memperhatikan aspek ekologis dengan mengajarkan penduduk lokal teknik permakultur berkelanjutan sembari menciptakan kesadaran tentang pariwisata ramah lingkungan.
