Kris Syamsudin

Founder Cengkeh Afo and Gamalama Spices

Kris Syamsudin is the recipient of an Australia Awards Fellowship and the founder of the community-based tourism project Cengkeh Afo and Gamalama Spices in Ternate, North Maluku. Based on a hillside clove plantation home to Afo, the world’s oldest clove tree, the initiative shares local agriculture, history, and heritage through spice production, supporting local livelihoods and generating income, especially for women. The initiative has attracted international attention, and Kris is now writing his first book titled The Heart of The Spice Forest

Kris Syamsudin adalah penerima Australia Awards Fellowship dan pendiri proyek wisata berbasis komunitas Cengkeh Afo dan Gamalama Spices di Ternate, Maluku Utara. Bertempat di perkebunan cengkeh di lereng bukit yang menjadi rumah bagi Afo, pohon cengkeh tertua di dunia, prakarsa ini berbagi tentang pertanian, sejarah, dan warisan lokal melalui produksi rempah-rempah, mendukung mata pencaharian dan menghasilkan pendapatan lokal, terutama bagi perempuan. Inisiatif ini telah menarik perhatian internasional, dan Kris sekarang sedang menulis buku pertamanya yang berjudul The Heart of The Spice Forest.
