Mei Batubara

NUSA Gastronomy Foundation

Mei Batubara is the Founder and Head of NUSA Gastronomy Foundation and on the Governing Board of Meet the Maker, which both aim to work with small Indonesian producers and communities in a more socially just and sustainable way. Mei is an architect turned foodie, who followed her culinary passions and began travelling around Indonesia to research Indonesian cuisine while working closely with communities and indigenous tribes in food’s social and cultural issues. She is also passionate about Indonesia’s artisan products and makers, and works closely with communities such as Meet the Maker, to support artisan producers all over Indonesia.

Mei Batubara adalah Pendiri dan Ketua Yayasan Gastronomi NUSA dan Dewan Pengurus Meet the Maker, yang keduanya bertujuan untuk bekerja dengan produsen dan komunitas kecil Indonesia dengan cara yang lebih adil dan berkelanjutan secara sosial. Mei adalah seorang arsitek yang beralih menjadi pecinta kuliner, yang mengikuti hasrat kulinernya dan mulai berkeliling Indonesia untuk meneliti masakan Indonesia sambil bekerja sama dengan komunitas dan suku asli dalam masalah sosial dan budaya makanan. Dia juga tertarik dengan produk dan pembuat artisan Indonesia, dan bekerja sama dengan komunitas seperti Meet the Maker, untuk mendukung produsen artisan di seluruh Indonesia.
