Stephane Simond

Stephane Simond, a self-taught French pastry chef and owner of Butterman Bakery, has worked in Indonesia for 15 years. Born in Chambery, France, his mixed French and Italian heritage profoundly influenced his culinary journey. Beginning his career at 15 in the Michelin-starred restaurant, l’Auberge Lamartine, ignited his passion. He refined his craft across esteemed establishments in France and Switzerland, including the Vista Palace Hotel and Chateau de Divonne. Driven by exploration, he honed his talents in the Caribbean at Hotel Le Toiny and La Samanna Hotel. In 2008, he became Executive Chef at Cassis restaurant in Jakarta, Indonesia, marking the beginning of his connection with Southeast Asia. He further established himself in the region by managing Alila Villas Uluwatu and opening a French restaurant in Canggu, Bali.
