Martha Weruing

Martha Weruing is an Indonesian diaspora designer, entrepreneur, and co-founder of Bale Nagi Brewing, a craft beer and fermentation house rooted in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). After a decade in Perth, Australia, she returned to her ancestral region to build a brand grounded in local ingredients, community collaboration, and responsible innovation, connecting modern craft beverage practices with the agricultural traditions and knowledge systems of NTT. With a background in business development, design, technology, and tourism, Martha leads the strategic direction of Bale Nagi’s work, from field research with farmers to developing a taproom based on Australian hospitality standards. Together with her husband, she aims to tell the story of Flores Island and the NTT region through flavours, while initiatives such as Mengakar Rasa explore how biodiversity, culture, science, and entrepreneurship can create sustainable opportunities in Eastern Indonesia.
