UFF17 Volunteer Stories: Jidha Mujahidah

Posted: 23 June 2017 Category: Blog, News

Over 80 volunteers helped keep the wheels turning at UFF17 in almost every area of the Festival, from registering journalists in the Media Center to introducing sessions and speakers as MCs. In our Volunteer Stories series we’ll hear from them about their Festival experience, and all the tasty things they tried along the way! This week we spoke to Jidha Mujahidah, a new volunteer assisting with Masterclasses.

What was the most delicious thing you ate at UFF17?

The most delicious food I tasted at UFF17 was chicken satay with nasi kerucut, and the most unique one I tried for the very first time was the brown rice and salted caramel tempe gelato from Gelato Secrets. They kindly gave each volunteer a free scoop!

What was the most memorable moment of your UFF17 volunteer experience?

My most memorable experience was my very first time visiting Alila Ubud, when my supervisor asked me to be there to register the names for the Special Event. The scenery was really beautiful in the evening, and we enjoyed the sunset quietly. No motorcycles, no cars and no disturbance

What did you learn at UFF17?

I learned so many things from this event. We as volunteers have been taught by our supervisor that we have to appreciate each other. I also learned how to be disciplined with time. I appreciated that each volunteer was also disciplined with time – I was so surprised because the people in my hometown aren’t like that. It seems like everyone doesn’t care when they arrive late. So after joining the UFF17 and returning to my hometown, I have tried to be more disciplined, and to appreciate others’ time, because I realize that everyone will be appreciated by others when he or she appreciates their time.

What would you say to someone who is interested in volunteering for the first time at UFF18?

For those of you who love traveling, cooking, making friends with people from all over the world, then this event is truly recommended for you. At this Festival, you can directly feel the real atmosphere of Ubud, which is known to have an abundance of culture, humble people, and heavenly food. If you are interested to volunteer for UFF18, do not hesitate to apply! There is no need to worry about anything – trust me, everything will pay off. See you at UFF18 fellow volunteers!
