Once known as the heart of the Spice Islands, North Maluku holds a culinary heritage shaped by sago forests, coastal traditions, and generations of indigenous knowledge. In this intimate masterclass, Kagōunga invites you to explore the soul of the region through stories, ingredients, and a shared table. Through a live cooking demonstration, discover the cultural meaning and traditions behind papeda, the comforting sweetness of sagu pisang from Jailolo, and a nourishing herbal drink rooted in local wisdom. The experience continues around a long communal table, where participants will enjoy a specially prepared early dinner featuring kuah kuning and fresh ikan gohu, a vibrant celebration of North Maluku’s coastal flavours. More than a cooking class, this is an invitation to taste a part of Indonesia rarely seen, and to experience how food can connect us to place, history, and one another.

Dulu dikenal sebagai pusat Kepulauan Rempah, Maluku Utara memiliki warisan kuliner yang lahir dari hutan sagu, tradisi pesisir, dan pengetahuan turun-temurun masyarakat lokal. Melalui sesi ini, Kagōunga mengajak peserta mengenal kekayaan rasa dan cerita dari daerah tersebut lewat makanan dan pengalaman makan bersama. Melalui demo memasak secara langsung, peserta akan mengenal makna budaya di balik papeda, manisnya sagu pisang khas Jailolo, serta minuman herbal tradisional yang berasal dari kearifan lokal. Pengalaman ini kemudian dilanjutkan dengan makan bersama sambil menikmati hidangan yang telah disiapkan khusus, termasuk kuah kuning dan ikan gohu segar dengan cita rasa khas pesisir Maluku Utara. Lebih dari sekadar kelas memasak, sesi ini menjadi kesempatan untuk mengenal kekayaan kuliner Indonesia yang jarang ditemui sekaligus melihat bagaimana makanan dapat membawa cerita tentang budaya, sejarah, dan kehidupan masyarakatnya.
